HIGHLIGHTS AND SPECIAL EVENTS | ||||
The Florida Philharmonic Orchestra has announced its 2002-2003 season line-up. The FPO will offer fifteen subscription programs in four South Florida communities of Miami-Dade, Broward/Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Palm Beach. This season the orchestra will explore three centuries of masterpieces. In the Philharmonic's 17 years of existence, South Florida music lovers have come to expect the very best in classical music. The new season will be no exception. Under the leadership of Acting Music Director Joseph Silverstein, we will be showcasing many of the great-rising stars of the classical firmament. And as we undertake this innovative season, we will have an opportunity to rediscover the classics and explore new works that are rooted in great classical traditions. This extremely encompassing approach will allow the audience a complete musical experience. MORE The

state and the resident professional orchestra of Miami-Dade, Broward,
and Palm Beach Counties. It offers over 165 performances each year, showcasing
the finest classical music and some of the world's leading guest artists.

musical masterpieces ranging from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and
Mendelssohn to Brahms, Wagner, Liszt and modern masters Piazzolla, Piston,
Sibelius and Shostakovitch. A brilliant roster of guest conductors, many of whom are candidates for the music directorship of the Philhar-monic, will be joined by outstanding soloists in a series of masterworks programs that will bring you a season of enriching musical pleasures. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this talented group in their artistic evolution. Enjoy the ever-popular stylings of the renowned pianist and conductor Peter Nero, along with your own FPO. In 2002-2003 the FPO offers a three-concert series at the Broward Center, and a series of two concerts at the Kravis Center. Philharmonic will continue to offer the popular Matinee
Series in Boca Raton this Season. These special concerts feature
familiar works by your favorite composers and are designed for patrons
who are more comfortable with daytime performances. All concerts are
