This season the orchestra will explore three centuries of masterpieces. In the Philharmonic's 17 years of existence, South Florida music lovers have come to expect the very best in classical music. The new season will be no exception. Under the leadership of Acting Music Director Joseph Silverstein, we will be showcasing many of the great-rising stars of the classical firmament. And as we undertake this innovative season, we will have an opportunity to rediscover the classics and explore new works that are rooted in great classical traditions. This extremely encompassing approach will allow the audience a complete musical experience.
Florida Philharmonic is the largest performing arts organiza-tion in the
state and the resident professional orchestra of Miami-Dade, Broward,
and Palm Beach Counties. It offers over 165 performances each year, showcasing
the finest classical music and some of the world's leading guest artists.
Tomorrow's star may be shining tonight!
I invite you to join your Florida Philharmonic Orchestra as it performs musical masterpieces ranging from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Mendelssohn to Brahms, Wagner, Liszt and modern masters Piazzolla, Piston, Sibelius and Shostakovitch.
A brilliant roster of guest conductors, many of whom are candidates for the music directorship of the Philhar-monic, will be joined by outstanding soloists in a series of masterworks programs that will bring you a season of enriching musical pleasures.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this talented group in their artistic evolution.
